Today’s sunshine carries with it the promise of spring. It reminds me of a Vancouver Sun article I read a few days ago about “The Rejuvenated You,” which highlights the endless ways we can re-energize mind, body, and soul – from vitamin-enriched water, to belly dance cardio, to aerobic oxygen.

To most of us, “mystic” implies something otherworldly, unattainable, beyond the reach of the average person. But what is mysticism?

Everyday of our lives, we exchange energy with another person in some form, whether it be the waitress, the bank clerk, the gas station attendant, our partner, our kids or our colleagues. In all of these interactions we probably say the words, “Thank you” at least a dozen times a day.

DESIRE - how my heart is aching. DESIRE could be characterized as the original sin that we all carry within our genes. We desire more money, a better car, a bigger house, a more satisfying career, recognition, love, good relationships, a slimmer or more youthful body... The list goes on and on. Our whole life is based on fulfilling one desire or another.

Projection is a powerful tool used unconsciously in a world seen in only one dimension. Since we view the world only through our own perspective, everything appears to be dancing in front of us, reflecting the way we feel in that moment. Imagine times in which you’ve gone on holiday. Feeling happy and free, you meet someone special. The place itself is exceptionally beautiful.

Anyone who is even remotely interested in spirituality has heard about Oneness – the idea that there is no separation between us and all other beings. Oneness is a great concept, but how does it relate to our everyday lives? How can we look and think so differently and yet be One with everyone else, especially those who cause us distress?

I’ve recently spoken with many people, all from very different cultures, who feel that they can no longer bear the conflict and pressure in their relationships.

Have you ever experienced periods of your life in which, for no apparent reason, you just don’t feel worthy? Perhaps your sense of unworthiness takes the form of doubt, guilt, a feeling of incompleteness, or maybe even sadness. Traces of such feelings often lurk beneath the surface of day-to-day life.

It has been said that the eyes are windows to the soul. When we are in love, we can sit forever staring into the eyes of the other. Lovers often say, “I’ve finally met my soul mate,” which is really just two people who have opened up enough to see the soul in another. Connecting at a soul level ought to be a normal part of life.
