Three Arkansas farming operations have filed a class-action lawsuit against Pfizer, Tyson Foods and three Arkansas poultry producers over arsenic detected in their rice. The lawsuit claims the defendants "knew that excessive arsenic in chicken litter used as fertilizer on many rice farms in Arkansas would contaminate the entire U.S. rice crop and infiltrate the general U.S.
They started with 500 new seeds. The next day they planted 200 more, all of them in flats cramming the side wing of the wrap-around porch at Sam Frere’s and Dan Warren’s house on Collicello Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They try to put in at least that much every day, enough to provide steady replacement to their daily harvest.
